Intro Publication Date: November 10, 2014
Author: RuthAnn Hogue
Get an inside look at who is on the other end of the line when you call customer support. It's not who you think. Kelly is a decorated writer and author, has a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in marketing to boot. So what is she, and many others like her, doing wearing a headset for up to 12 hours a day fielding customer service calls for Web Tech Girl, a giant employer whose doors never close? She's earning a living in a post-economic boom America where professional work is difficult to find and salaries no longer reflect her experience and education. Kelly is fictional. The experiences she faces are based on real data and people. This book will be an eye opener for everyone who has ever called customer support and will ring true to those who have worked in the call center industry on the other end of the line.

"As the editor and publisher of this book I am admittedly biased. For full disclosure. the author is also my mother. With that said, it was extremely rewarding to be able to help my mother tell her story in her own words and voice, with few changes or additions. She has been published for years in a variety of publications. Her simple style, compared to her late husband's flowery style, is a stark contrast. I learned to appreciate it when I learned journalistic style and the need to communicate over sounding as if one knows a lot of $5 words. No offense, Dad. To each his own. The original release of this book was eBook only. My mother is not technologically savvy and had long wished for a hard copy of her work. I am proud to have finally fulfilled her wish. In addition, others had requested that her artwork be available in color. In this edition, they are. It costs a little more to do so, but it's worth it. Finally, the large print is because my mom has cataracts. Even with glasses it is difficult for her to see well. I hope others won't mind if I personalized this for the author. I do hope others enjoy it. Mostly, though, it has been a labor of love to make my mom's achievement tangible."
